Audience: Any CPAs with employees or clients who have employees.

Description: Few areas of the law have changed as much as employment law. Employers are being hit with million dollar lawsuits on a weekly basis. CPA firms increasingly find themselves facing ex-employees in court. Avoid lawsuits and expensive judgments by recognizing problems before they turn into a lawsuit.

Professional Conduct and Ethics for Washington CPAs

Audience: This 4 hour live course is approved by the Washington State Board of Accountancy for four hours of professional ethics credit.

Level: Review/Update

Description: Topics include the Public Accountancy Act, Board rules, and prohibited practices. This course is appropriate for CPAs employed in business and industry as well as those engaged in public practice. BrownBagCPE is registered as a sponsor with the Washington State Board of Accountancy to provide CPE Ethics training.

Approved: by the Washington State board of Accountancy as meeting the minimum requirements of WAC 4-25-830 which requires a four-hour course in the subject area of professional ethics with specific application to the practice of public accounting in Washington state.

Instructor: Jim Jurinski Attorney/CPA (Washington and Oregon).
Jim, has taught classes on accounting ethics in Portland and the Seattle area for a number of years. He formerly served on the AICPA subcommittee that oversees ethics testing on the CPA Exam. Jim, who is Of Counsel to the law firm Draneas & Huglin, P.C., has published several articles on both accounting ethics and the legal problems of accountants facing malpractice charges. more»
