Audience: CPAs, CFPs and other financial professionals who are interested in learning more about divorce in Oregon and Washington.

Description: About 1 million U.S. marriages will end in divorce this year. At least one or two of your clients will get divorced in the next few years. Be prepared to advise your clients about their financial issues with accurate information about how divorce really operates in both Oregon and Washington. Learn the nuts and bolts of divorce law from an experienced family law attorney who practices in both states.

Learn About: Basic legal and financial issues including » “typical” property divisions and what happens to the martial home » Employee benefits and pension plans » Child custody, visitation, and support » How financial professionals work with divorce lawyers » General timelines and basic courtroom procedures » and Qualified Domestic Relation Orders (QDRO). The course also focuses on how emotional issues impact financial planning in a typical divorce. Prenuptial agreements and services for unmarried couples will also be addressed.
